It’s also about harnessing their healing, calming and restorative powers, all those sensations we want to envelop us in our safe spaces, our homes.”

This year, the East Coast Radio House + Garden Show’s interior décor trends of Rest, Retreat, Reflect, and Realign marry perfectly with the moody blues. Working together, the Blue Spaces trilogy of Caribbean Sea (G7-A1-2), North Beach (B4-B1-1), and Aqua Pura (G7-C2-2) complement and enhance each other.
A key goal in décor is finding harmony and balance, achieved with the classic 60-30-10 interior design principle which guides the colour mix and their placement in a space. Using the Dive In colour palette, consider 60 percent coverage by the serene, gentle blue-green shade of Aqua Pura (G7-C2-2) on walls and soft furnishings; 30 percent as the secondary colour of the deep, enduring North Beach (B4-B1-1) to add drama and depth; and 10 percent introduces the invigorating, energetic turquoise of Caribbean Sea(G7-A1-2) as the accent or accessory colour. The soft, subtle Aqua Pura (G7-C2-2) is the calming backdrop against which bold North Beach Beach (B4-B1-1) and the lively Caribbean Sea (G7-A1-2) speak. Together, they harmonise.
“The allure of water is universal,” says Patty. “It evokes in us a wide range of emotions, and surrounding ourselves with these hues has a restorative effect. The sea connects us to nature, and that’s been globally acknowledged as positive for our health and well-being.”
